Love and other stuff!

So another Christmas has come and gone...
We await the New Year, so many hopes and wishes, and resolutions to be made, and no doubt broken (again)
I am happy to report, I did get some work done on my book this past year, not as much as I thought I would, but enough that I can be happy about the progress.
I think we will slow down a bit this year, I am tired of traveling so much. ( Did I just say that?)
Seriously, I love to travel, going to wonderful places, but, its the getting there I hate.
Chuck is really tired too , he travels so much with his work ( I think they are trying to kill him)... So just being home would be nice, for a couple of weeks, laying around the pool listening to our own music..
We are planning a stay-cation this year, just hope we can pull it off, and not feel the urge to do so many things around the house, that we forget to enjoy ourselves.
I just want to enjoy not being in the car, or on a plane, or in a rent car, or a resort that charges astronomical prices for the least little thing.
No lizards, or crying bratty kids that dont mind, and parents that dont care.....or anything else that is annoying....
We want to enjoy just being here and being lazy.

I really enjoyed Christmas this year. I missed both of my sons not being here, but I did get to see Mark and his family for a short visit the week before Christmas. Haiyley is so cute, and just starting to walk, so precious, I didnt want to leave..

Matthew doesnt like the family thing, nor is he into the whole family Christmas celebration, and all the stuff that goes with it.
Its all good, (different strokes). But I still miss him each Christmas...( I still see that little boy with the big eyes of excitement opening his Christmas presents)
That is why memories are so great!

We had over thirty people here at the house for our Family Christmas get together.. whew!!! Thats a lot, considering, there were probably an equal amount that werent here.
I wanted to do something different this year, so I came up with
the idea that everyone could write in their own words what “love” means to them. I put them all together, and printed it out and Chuck read it at our party. It was great, I love it all, and hope each family member that participated liked it as much. It was really interesting to see what each others thoughts were.
Some were really quite awesome and amazing, even from some of the youngest people in the family, lots of surprises, and only a couple that I wasnt surprised at.

I have decided that I have a pretty amazing family. There is a lot of love, and even though we have our differences, we seem to always be able to pull together in times of great joy and in crisis....

My kids are well....(not kids anymore), they have all surprised me over the past year. I have seen growth I never thought I would see from some. Do I hear an Amen?
I had some disappointments as well, but I think over all, this was a good year.
I have seen such wonderful maturity, and it makes me so proud, even when I am sad at some things, I will hang on to those things that make me smile, and try and forget for the moment the things that dont.

I love my Dad, its awesome to have him still around at 83 years old. He is a good man, he is kind and even though he is kinda crazy sometimes, Hes so funny, and when he starts telling stories of when he was a kid on the farm, and all the things hes done and experienced, I love these times the best,
and I would never want to be a part of any other family.

Hard to believe that Mama has been gone for 15 years now, I miss her still, especially at Christmas time, she was always like a child herself, and I miss hearing her voice and all of her silly talk, and just the way she was. She was a tough cookie externally, and there are those that never really understood her, or even tried to. She could be hard to get close to, but if you took some time, you would never regret knowing her. She was so unique, and will forever be in my heart, and I hope that I have just a little of her spirit in me.
And I dont mind now, when someone says, “dang you are just like your mother”, (bring it on)!! :)

And some times, when I go to bed at night, and I am Thanking God for all that he has blessed me with.
I remind myself that there is no such thing as perfect, and well, maybe there will be a little less beating myself up this next year. Hopefully a little more hearing myself say, you know, “you didnt do such a bad job after all”

I am enclosing our families, “What Love Is”

Love is - sharing a pillow at bedtime, watching sunsets together, hearing children’s laughter, holding hands, and kisses and hugs from family
(Paul)

Love is when you wake up at 3am full of self-doubt and insecurity, and your mate touches you and reminds you that you are the best thing that ever happened to them.... (Chuck)

Love is being able to look into someone's eyes and without them saying a word knowing what's on their mind. Love is being able to finish each others sentences, completing each others' thoughts and allowing each other to dream. Love is painful but it is worth every tear shed and every ounce of energy and effort it takes to make it stronger. (Russell)

Love is something that you need to treasure...., and there are people around you that love you, and its better than anything else in the world... (Madison) (9)

Love is to Hug someone or give someone a kiss... (Hunter) (7)

Love is Kisses (Elijah) (3)

Love is putting Melissa and the kids before myself
(Jared)

For me love is... a feeling of complete happiness, euphoria... It is acceptance for who we are...it enables
us to see perfection in those we love, even though they are not perfect..
It allows us to forgive the unforgivable, and the unacceptable..
Love is not anxious, once we find "real" love we never have to hold our breath, …or find ourselves waiting for
the other shoe to drop in fear... Love can be found, but never lost, It cant be bought, or stolen. It can
only be given freely, and accepted willingly

We have love for our parents, love for our children, and their children...
Love is not hateful or selfish, it is giving without counting....

Can we live without it... I think we can, but I think not well, and not long....

(Sharon)

to me love is a very diverse word
and though I sometimes use it lightly
to explain how I feel about chocolate or
starbucks :) to me love truly is a more
deep personal feeling. a feeling I have
learned over the past year and a half
to be one of the greatest feelings ever.
to sum it... love is a completeness
it leaves you not longing for anything else
(Heather)

"Love is selfless...love is the look on your kids face when you walk in the door and they notice you are home...love is saying I am sorry and truly meaning it...love is innocent...love is unconditional, even when it is hard...
(Adam)

Love is something deep within your soul as well as something you do-
Taking care of someone - giving out acts of kindness even to strangers and think that stems from the love that GOD blesses us with.... because HE first loves us!
Love is loving someone thru the hard times and good times - Saying I'm sorry even when you didn't do it to keep the peace. Love is loving someone in no matter what unconditionally because you really know who they really are and maybe at that moment -- it was just that - a bad moment... Love is accepting them for them - and not trying to change them. Loving them as they are... Love is so much more but love is honoring the request of keeping this short! ;-)

Future Mommy to Be
(Meg!)

love is hugging and kissing my family and playing with my favorite dogs and being very good to my whole families and being with my cat pepper.
(Jasmine)

Love is...multifaceted
it is holding your newborn baby minutes after they are born
it is waking up every morning and seeing the person that you love laying next to you and thinking to yourself how much they mean to you, that you never want to be without them. o and how stinkin dang cute they are as well :)

it is doing for others before you and not expecting anything in return

it is loving your neighbor
it is doing things that you arent necessarily comfortable doing to please them, because you love them.
(Melissa)

Love is Always being there for each other...
Hoping it stays that way for a long time..
Getting along, not fussing, and if you do you make up...
(Paw Paw)

Love is ...respect for each other, happiness together, giving a good night kiss each night before bed, saying you love each other.... and Good night my darling!!
(Delores)

Love is when you can fart and blame it on your husband and he apologizes for it. ...or...
Love is when your husband will get up at 1am to clean up your puke from the bathroom floor. ...or...
Through all the ups and downs, knowing that the love you have for each other will only continue to grow. ...or...
Love means that sometimes a "Hi" and a "Bye" are all you need.
(Ashley)
